Updates...

Been a while, eh? My tour here, in Holland is coming to an end, and with my return to the US coming up, I have been knee deep in preparation for the transit. Because of this, I've been away from the blog scene for a while.
Even though I haven't blogged, the hobby shopping never stopped. I noticed that I haven't updated my collection with the new arrivals. There has been a few since I first uploaded at least what this room encompasses. I must say this: it's getting crowded. So many good figures, and no real way to have them shine like they should. Returning to the US will allow me the room I need to give some of these guys some justice. Anyway, onto the updates.
First up: Robot Shelf
- Not much here, but I did finally manage to get my hands on a Macross Frontier model kit, another Wild-member robot from SRW, and finally, that Valsione that I have coveted since 2010.
Valsione was one of the best Kotobukiya kits I have. Assembly was easy, with good ending articulation. I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Didn't think about this until now. Wildwurger is behind Weissritter and in front of Temjin. The purchase was solely to try and complete the 3 Wilds from SRW.

Hades Project: Zeorymer takes center stage, replacing Arblade Custom. I absolutely love the design of this mech. Reminds me so much of Cyclopsis from the first Power Rangers, and I liked that robot a lot.

Behind Lancelot Albion, is VF-25S Super Messiah model kit. the kit is nice enough to be built with, or without its heavy armor. I was excited to try my hand at a Macross kit for the first time, but I came up a bit disappointed with this. The transformation between modes is a bit choppy, and I cant get it to hold together nicely in fighter mode. Not sure there is much more Macross in my future.

Sorry, Arblade. You lost your center position, and got booted to the side.
Next: Transformers Shelf
- Tranformers Prime has really been a great cartoon, and a source of some nice figures. Also, with the release of Fall of Cybertron (in which if you haven't played...GOT GET IT), even more figures are being released. I haven't gotten everything that I wanted, but some essentials were found. Again, It's getting real crowded up there, so moving location would highly benefit me.
Barely enough space for the masterpiece Decepticons. It's also a bit difficult to see Prime Soundwave behind Skywarp's intake. FOC Shockwave, and Prime Knockout also join the ranks.

Behind G2 Optimus w/ Battle Tanker Add-On, is TFP's Voyager Megatron, and FE Optimus. Let me say, I love that Megatron. One of the best Megatron molds in a good, long while. Also, I am in love with the design of that robot. Seeing it on screen is excellent, and Frank Welker has done yet another astonishing job at playing one of the most iconic villains ever.

I had to change the pose for Magnus, with everything else behind him.

1, 2, 3 Primes! WFC, FOC, and Revoltech.

FOC Jazz next to his Generations incarnation. you can see WFC and TFP FE Bumblebees flanking TFP Ratchet.

Another Optimus Triplet. FE TFP, MP-10, and that red Powered Commander Add-On has Generations Optimus as the base.

Rodimus, Springer (Warbot Defender), Perceptor, Kup, Junkheap, Drift. I was kind of going for a Wreckers theme, here.

Photon totin' Rodimus and Warpath.
Third: Figure Shelf
- The most additions are here. I have an acceptional amount of remorse here. a good amount of Bandai Tamashii exclusives have came in, and I havent had the time to review them like they should be. Also, due to their size, and accessories, I had to shove them in the back, and take away from the the displaying they were meant for. I also stepped up my figma game. More and more of the famed "super poseable dolls" have rolled in, and one of the newest ones have really sparked my fancy.
Final Forms Kazuma and Ryuho from S-Cry-Ed. If you ever watch that battle, it bets pretty desperate toward the end. I'm sure these came and gone like the wind. I'm a bit sad I to shove Goku back there, but he takes up so much space. Reychal Orichalcum in underneath Gundam Girl, Yukina.

The complete Eva series is in effect. Liolaeus, and Sol Tekkaman join the fray.

All stages of Gurren Lagann. I love Gainax producions.

Been waiting for Griffith to show up.

A bit blurry, but its figma Samus Aran behind that ax, and next to the Ronin Warriors.

In front of the Ronin Warriors, come the Fate ladies. Just waiting on that Kiritsugu.

Behind Saber Alter, is ax wielding Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois. I know, a moutnful, but she is from Dog Days, and possibly my favorite figma to date. nice design, clothing gimmick, paint. Random purchases FTW!

Duel Maids. I tried to give the chicks in my collection some face time.

I need not explain these guys.

It keeps coming out sideways, but Chun Li and Ken posing in front of the Brothers Elric.
Finally: Saint Seiya Shelf
Oh my Dayum...He's finally arrived. I have awauted this for a while.
With the arrival of EX Aiolos, I have decided to do a "Generations" Compare & Contrast. Initially, I wanted to show him compared to Crown, but since I have all 3, I can show how the line has evolved over the years. I dont have much free time, and the project is rather large, so expect a while before I finish it. However, I plan on going through joint-to-joint, armor piece-by-piece, posing comparisons and special pieces/gimmicks. Stay tuned for some goodness in the coming days, and as always...

Happy Hobbying, everyone!

P.S. Sonic and Gundam Shelves weren't shown any love. Simply, I have all I want from Sonic, and there have been no new MG's that I want. The few I do want will have to wait until I move location. Besides...I don't have the room :(

Mail Call VII

Today…is a good day.
Ok, so I know I just posted that last review, but I check the mail today…and my day was made. Seems Bigbadtoystore and Angolz came through with some additions to make me a happy camper. Been impatiently waiting for these to arrive, but since it’s so much, I’m going to relax on the spending for a while.
Besides all the work that was done, the practicing for the ceremonies I have to do for 4th of July, and preparation for upcoming events at work and at the house, this was a pleasant close of business for a Monday…especially since I worked the graveyard shift last night. This 4th of July thing will probably take up the most free time, since there will be 3 ceremonies in 3 days, and I have to be in uniform for all of them. Americans really eat it up when their military does anything ceremonial, and even more so when we do it in foreign countries, so we all get a sense of satisfaction pleasing them…but the fact of the matter is, that it will July (the heart of the summer), and we will be outside in wool uniforms marching. Let the sweat commence.
Anyway, I’m not sure if I want to review any of these. I have read a pretty good and in depth Zero Type-2 review on Critiques4Geeks here: http://www.critiques4geeks.com/2012/06/19/toy-review-megaman-x-zero-type-2-bandai-d-arts/ that pretty much gave me all I needed to know. I guess I don’t mind posting some pics about it though…just to give it my own little spin. I’m happy about that Celestial Being stand also. Makes my 00 Raiser look even better.
Make sure to read up on Loto’s Armor review. It’s a pretty exceptionally done figure, and worth some recognition. As Dudley would say, “Keep it classy!”
 Happy Hobbying, everyone!

Review 7: figma White Rock Shooter

Sing Love: An alien landing on Earth on December 24th, 2031. As a human, she became a very popular musical artist who worked with a scientist to create a series of clones…one of which being Stella. Stella, being the perfect clone of Sing, was inevitably challenged by her “clonee”, and the battle ensued. For a full profile, check out: http://blackrockshooter.wikia.com/wiki/White_Rock_Shooter

figma White Rock Shooter. This figure is an exclusive in every sense of the term. When it premiered, the only way to get one was to buy Black Rock Shooter: The Game – White Box Premium edition, and White Rock Shooter was packaged with it. It even comes with an illustration booklet I have yet to open. Thankfully, Jungle Special Collector’s Shop being the great webstore that they are, was selling the figure by itself. They have a good selection of rare/exclusive figures there, so I keep frequent tabs on them.

I like the teeth on the angry face

WRS is a beautiful figure to look at…period. Because of the particular detail of her, it isn’t just some Black Rock Shooter clone/redeco. Unlike BRS, WRS sports a white color scheme (naturally) with black trims. Clearly, she was made with the intent to be the polar opposite to BRS. She even has white hair (opposite to BRS’ black), and red eyes (again, opposite to BRS’ blue). She sports some high heels, and an interesting arrangement of leg gear that is otherwise hard to explain without showing a picture. Pantyhose stop ¾ of the way up her thigh, and leave just a small amount of skin before the short shorts come in. Exposing all of her midsection, her string bikini top is draped by a cutoff hoodie what zips at the top. Hoodie has black star on left breast, with big short sleeves revealing a second pair of full length sleeves with black tabs. Both sleeves have black trim, and she uses her bare hands.
The open hood reveals her head, which is pretty identical to BRS, save the color scheme and most importantly, the hair tails. Both of her pigtails are the long, and are the same length. Personally, I’m very happy about that. Her eyes have the same “Rinnegan” looking style as the rest of the BRS characters, with magenta pupils.
White Rock Shooter

Oh yeah!

"Restriction 666 released. Dimensional Interface Field deployed."

"Code S.O.L. Blazblue..."

"ACTIVATE!"

"Let's..."

The articulation is standard for a figma, although it is hindered in some places. For instance, the top of her hood is removable, and must be undone for full range of motion of the shoulders can be used. Due the tabs on the sleeves, the hands must be carefully articulates to compensate for their interference. Her knees don’t bend as far as BRS 2035, and good luck getting her to stand properly without the stand. Her heels aren’t a good enough base for her weight, especially if you put her gear on. Aside from the little tidbits, any calm pose you put her in is bound to look stunning.
figma  joints are on the ankles, knees, elbows, neck, and pigtails. Due to the mold of the hair, they offer a bit less movement than BRS, but still enough for me. The neck is not straight up, but rather angled forward from the top of the torso, so when the head is on, the chin is away from the neck, and the entire face is free from obstruction from the hood. The midsection has its own separates articulation from the chest and waist, but nothing too significant.
"Rock and Roll."

Such a lovely weapon.

White Onslaught

Paint. Do I really need to talk about that? It’s a figma, so paint will be great, no matter what. One thing I want to note is that everything on her is clean…even her weaponry. She doesn’t have a Rock Cannon which is painted to seem rusty, but what she does have is squeaky clean and shiny. Since she is mostly white with black trim, her paint is less likely to smudge or chip than the likes of other figures with darker tones.
Full Gear

Flexible appendages

Laser cannons

"Let be the one to unite all souls..."

Special parts are where this figure really shines. Starting with that beautiful scythe of hers, the “White Scythe”, it’s mostly white with a black handle, and magenta transparent plastics on the curved blade. You also get several hand pieces, a separate hood with robotic armor, and her wings appendages.  The second hood has these armor pieces that articulate around the top of her arms. The wings are the real crown here.
Inserted into a backpack, they are five separate links connected via ball joints, making every blade moveable. The tips of the appendages are cone shaped, and I can only assume they are used for firing lasers of some sort. The ball joints are a bit restricting, so be careful when articulating. Finally, you get her magenta flame manifestation hair piece. Make note of the fact that it’s the right eye, instead of left.

Now...Fight your rival!

Overall: 7/10. All in all, it’s a good figure. However, the fact that it is a figma, as well as having so much gear means that the main purpose for this is to stand and look fearsome…in which it completely pulls off. Subtle grace isn’t something this excels at as a figma, but that isn’t what I bought it for. If I had to compare it completely to BRS 2035, I would say that BRS is the better figure in terms of mechanics and paint, but WRS takes it in terms of accessories, and dynamics.

The Rock Shooters

Black Rock Shooter figma family.

The reasons to get this would be: 1 – Hardcore fan, 2 – You can find it and 3 – You can afford it. It’s got a pretty hefty price tag on it since it’s an exclusive, and it will only get heavier with time. Only a few places have it left, so get it while you can if you’re really into what Huke has to offer.

Here she is in action:
Stay tuned for the next project…Compare and Contrast: An in Depth Look between Masterpiece Seeker Molds. (Still working on that title, though.) And it you want to know more about the rival. check out the sister figure review: http://therionxion.blogspot.com/2012/04/review-5-figma-black-rock-shooter-game.html
Happy Hobbying, everyone!
